The best thing of the article on bleeding cool regarding the First Transgender Character in Mainstream Comics are this pages by Ted McKeever:
I'm feeling a sudden urge to hunt down the complete run of Rachel Pollack's Doom Patrol, it's just a pity that Mckeever isn't the artist of those comics.

The Slow Return
![]() |
| Cover of MiniZine #01 |
After a lot of false starts I’m finally back on the business of doing comics. It took almost 10 years to publish something in paper again. I went back to my roots and published a small fanzine called MiniZine featuring: illustrations, prose and few short stories.
The MiniZine is only available in Portuguese; if you understand my native language you can find more info on the blog and the Facebook page.
I was planning in drawing all the stories, but I ended up inviting a few artists to collaborate with me. Until now, all the collaborations work out well. It was a nice change after a lot of projects that went south, leaving me with almost no desire to do comics.
For those who don’t understand Portuguese, you’ll have to wait a bit until I publish an English version of the stories here.
I have projects for more ambitious works, but MiniZine allows me to have a few short stories finished, something concrete to show. It’s a start, after a long hiatus.

We apologize for the inconvenience
After a few rough months I'm back. If you take in account my previous record before my vacations, that will not sound like much, but this time, I will be a more regular poster.
(At least I'm planning too.)

For Now It's...
This blog is going on a hiatus. There’s too much happening right now in my life to do any regular blogging, plus this blog was never regular or coherent. Actually it’s a good example in how erratic I have been in my commitment with what was supposed to be the love of my life – comics.
When I finish sorting a few problems (and decided what to do with this blog). I’ll be back ;)

Pieces of Jonni
Jonni Marz was a project for a webcomic to submit to Zuda Comics (when it existed), it was never completed. I'm thinking in picking in it to do as a webcomics or print story.
The artwork for this samples is by Fábian Fucci.

Unpublished Scripts
Comix scrips are made to be read after they are drawn, but this ones will not be drawn or published so if you're interested you can read them in this "crude" format.
- That Night : There are night that will change you for the rest of your life. This was one of those.
- The Waiting : A short story about waiting for the one we love.
- Gratitude : An unsolicited scrip of Apollo written in a time when there was an Authority.
- Still Lethal : An unsolicited Wolverine short story. A friend wanted a story featuring Wolverine to draw a submission, but ended up not drawing it.
- Goodbye : A few years ago I decided to write this story instead of killing myself. I was planned to be a webcomic and a mini comic. It includes tigh layouts because there was a time when I was thinking to draw it myself.

It Was Bizarre
Bizarro was the name of fanzine and webzine that I edited between 1997 and 2004. The name had nothing to do with the DC character. Bizarro it's portuguese for Bizarre, and the name was an omage to John Willies Magazine (that had nothing to do with comics).
In 2007 I was going to do an anniversary issue of the 10 years, but for several reason it never came out. Some of the material is online here. It was a way of doing a webzine in one afternoon.
Among the stories there's: Tempo De Partir ("Time To Leave"), the first and only story that I wrote under the name of Chaka Sidyn that ended up being drawn. The rest of the stories finished and published were written under the pen name of Rohke Vorne or under my own name, most of those where drawn by me too.
All the stories are in Portuguese.
Foi Bizarro! It was bizarre, but now it's over. Like everything else.

It's the Wall not the Rail!
I'm going all fanboy on this! The young slim version of Amanda Waller that debuted in Suicide Squad one is the worst change that DC ever did to a character, and it doesn't serve any purpose, except turning Amanda into a sexy kitten.
I'm not getting into the discussion of diversity, but the short, middle age, black & fat Amanda, was (and is) an iconic character. In a world of superpowered heroes, that short and chubby lady wasn't the butt of the jokes, she was a powerful and feared character.

Dave Mckean's Sexy "Celluloid"
The first comics project by Dave Mckean since he finished his masterpiece Cages is an erotic graphic novel - Celluloid - that will be published by Eros.
CBR, spoke with McKean about the challenges he faced in putting this book together -- his first solo graphic novel since "Cages" -- and the problems/challenges he faced in dealing with sexually explicit material.

The depressing majority of comics seem to be about violence of one sort or another, yet how much violence does the average person have to deal with in their everyday lives? Unless you live in Bogotá or somewhere similar, mostly it's pretty petty stuff; the odd drunk looking for a fight, the odd crazy shouty person, the odd mad taxi driver, maybe. And I just don't enjoy violence. I can see that narratively it is often a powerful spike in a story, but I certainly don't want to dwell on it. I don't want it in my real life, I don't find violence entertaining in and of itself, or exciting, or funny.
But sex is happily part of most people's lives, and crosses the mind most days, I would say, even if it's just watching your partner get out of bed in the morning. All my stories tend to be about things that mean a lot to me and may be fragmented through dream imagery, or metaphorical settings, but basically, my stories are just about the people and places in my life.
